As the Team Leader for Application Development, you'll be responsible for guiding a team of developers through the complete software development lifecycle, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products that meet business objectives and acceptance criteria. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, project management, and communication skills to foster a productive and collaborative team environment. You'll take full ownership of people management, including coaching, mentoring, performance reviews, career development, and employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of software developers to achieve project goals and deliverables.
Oversee all stages of software development, from planning and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery of software solutions.
Set and enforce coding standards, development procedures, and best practices to maintain code quality and consistency.
Conduct code reviews and implement quality assurance measures to ensure high software quality.
Collaborate closely with stakeholders, product managers, and other teams to define requirements and align on project objectives.
Facilitate effective communication and knowledge sharing within the team and across departments.
Identify and resolve technical challenges, providing innovative solutions and technical guidance as needed.
Manage team resources, including personnel, budgets, and equipment, to optimize productivity and project outcomes
Track and report on key performance metrics, project progress, and risks to management.
Foster a positive team culture, encourage professional development, and conduct performance reviews.
Ensure all software is fully tested, documented, and compliant with relevant standards.
Drive continuous improvement in development processes and team performance.

Experience & Qualifications:
Education: University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science or similar program.
Experience: 7+ years in system development and support, 2-3 years in team leadership in an IT environment.
Preferred: Java RESTful services, Spring framework, database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, etc.), versioning tools, UI Frameworks, caching solutions (Redis), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD and automation frameworks, front-end frameworks (Angular, React, Vue), Python, Shell Scripting, Jira, Cherwell, Flyway, Maven, cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Knowledge and Skills: Strong object-oriented design and analysis skills, experienced usage of Software Engineering Processes, working within Agile development processes (Scrum and Kanban), high attention to detail, hands-on experience in maintaining high-quality code, exceptional technical skills across a broad range of technologies, managing multiple priorities, problem-solving mindset, demonstrate mature and professional judgment and decision-making, ability to lead developers on projects, directing multiple people on multiple tasks.
Language: Proficiency in English required; French is an asset.
Security Clearance Requirement: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B). This includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.
