The Asset Servicing team supports all Corporate Actions, Class Actions and Proxy for Global Wealth and Asset Management. They are responsible for the day to day global operations and oversight of all aspects of Asset Servicing operations and work closely with the Manila support teams on a daily basis. They serve as the escalation point for our Investment Management teams. This team is also responsible for managing the day to day process of numerous custodians that support our business on a daily basis. This is a global team supporting all of Manulife Investment Management. The team is required to have in-depth knowledge of Corporate Actions, investment operations and Global Custody. 

 

In this role you are responsible for supporting the Asset Servicing operations which includes Corporate Actions, Class Actions and Proxy. 

 

As the successful candidate you will need to have thorough knowledge of voluntary and mandatory corporate actions across global markets. It is also vital to be able to build a relationship with the global team, and our internal clients. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage and record Fund Managers decisions for voluntary events 

  • Oversight of the day to day market events which includes corporate actions and income 

  •   Understands the Corporate Action event and identify the risk and exceptions processing involved including tax application, currency exposure, complexity of the event and stringent deadlines 

  • Contribute topic expertise to Investment Teams on associated events 

  • Maintain an awareness and understanding of the Investment industry 

  • Monitor market activity and amend records of investors assets 

  • Identify, investigate and instigate corporate actions whether the event is in/out of money to determine whether unresponsive accounts should be contacted 

  • Research reconciliation breaks between accounting book of record and other applications as applicable and ensure discrepancies are cleared or are documented and followed up in a timely manner 

  • Review and resolve reconciliation breaks in a timely manner to reduce market and monetary exposure 

  • Analyze all corporate action events both voluntary and mandatory with options - identifying key risk indicators such as foreign restrictions, withholding tax consequences, special settlement rules, minimum/maximum denominations, required documentations to ensure instructions received can be actioned 

  • Monitor election on voluntary and mandatory with options events by ensuring that elections are submitted before the custodian deadline date 

  • Respond to inquiries within the specified timeframe as outlined in the Service Level Agreement from Portfolio Managers, Custodians and other Internal stakeholders. 

  • Oversee to ensure accuracy of all corporate action processing completed by off shore team 

  • Prepare and submit all class actions claims with supporting documentations to the Claims Administrator for all eligible funds by the outlined deadlines 

  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and workflows. Document business requirements which would include system gap analysis, defining system requirements, identifying issues and recommending solutions. 

  • Coordinate periodical audit reviews and completion of RCSA both for internal and external parties. 

  • Maintain project plans and ensure the delivery meets target deadlines. 

  • Initiate escalations to supervisors as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years experience in Investment Management Operations. 

  • Proven experience working in a global team environment 

  • Extensive experience of working in a global environment 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and client service skills 

  • A strong attention to detail and highly organized 

  • Excellent escalation and communication skills both written and verbal 

  • Client eccentric communicates effectively and confidently. Ability to manage expectations to instill a strong positive impact and professional impression. 

  • The successful candidate should have in-depth background knowledge of voluntary and mandatory corporate actions across global markets. 

  • It is vital to be able to build relationship with the team and internal clients. 

  • Previous experience within Asset Servicing, Asset Management, Fund Administration or Custody

Salary range is expected to be between

$61,350.00 CAD - $102,250.00 CAD
