The Opportunity
John Hancock/ Manulife is looking for a technically strong hands-on, collaborative Senior Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Software engineer who can bring thought leadership to the table and can build fabulous experiences for our customers. An ideal candidate will have experience on latest AEM version, preferably AEM as a Cloud Service and will have experience with any modern frontend framework (React preferred)
Work location: Boston - USA (ideally) or Toronto - Canada
Work arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days from home; Remote working arrangement is not available.
Position Responsibilities:
Collaborate with UX Designers, Product Owners, Content Authors and IT stakeholders to iterate on design, development and implementation in support of our web-platform and initiatives utilizing Adobe Experience Manager as well as other technologies as needed.
Develop clean, maintainable, readable code that is scalable and secure. Participate in design and code reviews to ensure the same.
Active participation in agile ceremonies and best practices
Designs and develops pages, templates and components with which a content author interacts to create the desired user experience as communicated by the product owners and UX designers.
Develops choices around component design to promote re-use with the flexibility needed for cross-site teams to create an experience that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Mentor junior team members
Troubleshoot and resolve issues surrounding performance, response times, capacity and system limitations.
Development and presentation of POCs/ prototypes to a large audience and key stakeholders of Product as and when required
Conceptualizes original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblock
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years’ experience with AEM
Experience migrating AEM from AMS hosted to AEM as a Cloud Service preferred.
Proficiency in AEM (core components, sites, assets, workflows, etc.) and related integrations into AEM. Solid foundation in core web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)., DevOps practices, and cloud deployment.
Must have experience in migration to Adobe Cloud or experience working on Adobe Cloud
Must have frontend experience ( React, Angular)
Good to have experience with other Adobe Experience Cloud tools/ products
Background on integrating and optimizing marketing technologies to support marketing strategies.
Proficiency in troubleshooting complex issues across multiple layers of AEM and integrated systems.
Understanding of Website design, SEO, Accessibility and Performance
Experience with Adobe Experience Manager 6.5.x a strong plus
Exposure to Salesforce development or integration a plus
Experience with frontend framework (React) preferred
Experience with integrating AEM with external search solutions like Coveo.
Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively; experience in creating prototypes
Collaborative attitude, willingness to work with team members; able to coach, participate in code reviews, share skills and methods
Good verbal and written communication; effectively articulates technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes
Knowledge of security best practices and compliance (e.g., SSL, GDPR, OWASP standards).
Excellent problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset and an innovative approach to solution delivery.
AEM Sites Certification is a plus.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science

Salary range is expected to be between
$104,860.00 USD - $194,740.00 USDIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
