Agilus is recruiting for a Formulation Chemist/Formulator in the chemical manufacturing industry in Markham, Ontario.
A day in the life:
Develop and formulate innovative consumer products across a range of applications (e.g., cleaning products, automotive, various adhesives, etc.)
Enhance and refine existing formulations to ensure regulatory compliance and maximize product performance.
Perform hands-on laboratory tasks including batching, stability analysis, and performance testing.
Work closely with Regulatory, QA/QC, Sales, and Marketing teams to ensure formulation activities align with business goals and compliance requirements.
Keep up-to-date with industry regulations and standards, including CARB, EPA, SCAQMD, and VOC-related guidelines.
Research, source, and assess raw materials with an emphasis on sustainability, regulatory adherence, functionality, and cost-efficiency.
Accurately document formulations, maintain lab notebooks, and compile detailed technical records.
Diagnose and resolve formulation or manufacturing issues, providing technical insights and assistance to internal departments or clients.
You bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience formulating consumer or industrial chemical products.
Proven experience working with Low VOC regulations and reformulation strategies.
Strong knowledge of raw material chemistry, surfactants, stabilizers, emulsifiers, solvents, and additives.
Ability to balance regulatory compliance with cost, performance, and sustainability.
Familiarity with lab equipment and analytical techniques (e.g., viscosity, pH, density).
Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication across technical and cross-functional teams.
What's in it for you:
Annual Salary: $60,000 - $70,000, based on experience
Work Schedule: Mon to Fri (7:30am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm) 40 hour work week
3 weeks of paid vacation +sick days
