About Our Opportunity

 

Looking for a Summer job but do not want to spend all day behind a desk inside? Are you interested in forest health, fleet repair, or wildfire management? Come work for us and make a difference while working outside!

 

We're seeking a grounds keeper to mow approximately three acres of lawns of varying terrain including level ground, small hills, and ditches. There are also numerous gardens which are maintained by the grounds keepers.

Primary Accountabilities

 

In addition to the grounds work the students will occasionally carry out various duties associated with the Forest Health Laboratory and Wildfire Management Sections along with tasks associated with the fleet repair facility within the Fleet / Forest Protection Division.

 

This position reports to the Building Supervisor, Fleet/Forest Protection.

Qualifications and Experience

 

To be considered for this position, you are currently a student in high school or a post-secondary education program and returning to studies in the Fall.  Proof of returning to studies may be required.

 

In addition, you can work with limited supervision and demonstrate good judgement, and strong teamwork skills. Must have proven experience with ride on lawn mowers, push mowers, whipper snippers. Gardening would also be considered an asset.

 

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

 

Working Conditions

 

Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.

May be required to work overtime on occasion.
