The Department of Seniors and Long Term Care is committed to ensuring the inclusion, well-being, and independence of seniors in Nova Scotia by facilitating the development of policies on aging and programs for seniors across government and through the provision and coordination of strategic planning, support, services, programs and information. This is achieved through leadership and collaboration with partners. With a focus on collaborative primary health care, continuing care, infrastructure, and more, the department is thinking differently about how to plan, fund, legislate and monitor to improve access and service delivery. Under the supervision of the Manager, Eligibility Review Unit, Continuing Care, the Eligibility Review Officer provides a wide variety of revenue recovery and financial assessment services on behalf of the Client Services Division. This includes the assessment of a clients/applicants initial and ongoing eligibility for long term care program funding; writing reasoned decisions related to client eligibility; reviewing/assessing income to be applied towards the accommodation costs; preparing submissions/responses to Administrative Reviews.
The Eligibility Review Officer develops and implements processes for revenue recovery; assists in the development of procedures for assessment and determination of eligibility and participates in policy development related to financial eligibility issues. The Eligibility Review Officer priority is to provide rates for long term care clients based on their Notice of Assessments that contribute towards the client’s cost of care.
As the ideal candidate, you possess a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration or Social Sciences plus one year related experience in the financial or accounting sector, or an acceptable equivalency. You also possess the following:
