We're seeking an exceptional Software Development Engineer to contribute to the development of next-generation network monitoring systems. You'll work on a critical data stream that ingests, enriches, and transforms AWS traffic monitoring data, enabling:

* Real-time analysis and resolution of network congestion
* Traffic engineering and optimization
* Cost optimization of our vast network infrastructure
* Accurate forecasting of future capacity needs

Your Impact

As a key member of the NTE team, you'll:

Design and implement highly scalable, distributed systems using data streaming technologies. Drive the full software development lifecycle, from conception to production deployment. Collaborate across AWS to deliver innovative solutions for our global infrastructure. Contribute to the architecture and strategy of our network monitoring platform.

What We're Looking For:
Proven experience in building and scaling distributed systems. Strong coding skills in languages such as Java, Python, C++ or Rust. Experience with cloud technologies and AWS services is a plus. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication abilities and a customer-centric mindset. Passion for mentoring and growing other engineers.

Key job responsibilities
• Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
• Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.
• Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed.
• Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.
• Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.
• Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

A day in the life
As an SDE, you will problem-solve and innovate in an agile, sometimes ambiguous environment. You will build creative short-term and sustainable long-term solutions with others as passionate as you about this mission. You will use data to make decisions and validate assumptions. You will learn from others and help grow those in your team to achieve their best.

Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary for this position ranges from $114,800/year up to $191,800/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
