Our client, a leading nonprofit in the healthcare sector, is seeking a Senior Accountant for a 12-month contract to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial activities related to revenue and investments, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures, and providing support to internal teams and external stakeholders, including donors, brokers, and investment managers. Reporting to the Associate Director of Accounting, this role requires strong financial reporting skills, investment reconciliation experience, and the ability to handle audit processes effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile and record investment transactions, ensuring accuracy and posting to the General Ledger.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly audit schedules and balance sheet reconciliations for bank and investment accounts.
  • Process and arrange payment for custodian and investment manager invoices.
  • Manage gift of securities processing and ensure proper documentation.
  • Reconcile revenue and post from donor databases, ensuring accuracy across platforms.
  • Prepare quarterly investment allocation entries for endowment funds.
  • Contribute to process improvements within the finance team.
  • Assist with the annual audit and other finance-related tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • University degree or equivalent experience in Finance or Accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of investment markets and nonprofit sector accounting principles.
  • Expert Excel skills and familiarity with financial systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Financial Edge) is an asset.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
