Our leading social services client is looking for a Senior Advisor of Major Projects to join their team on a 12 month term.

Reporting to the National Manager, Major Projects, the Senior Advisor, Major Projects, will provide strategic guidance and expert oversight on large-scale, high-impact projects spanning multiple years and valued between $2M–$7M. This role requires an experienced professional capable of advising project teams, engaging senior executives, and ensuring successful project execution without directly managing day-to-day operations.

As a key bridge between project teams and executive leadership, the Senior Advisor will focus on risk identification, vendor management, stakeholder engagement, and strategic decision-making. This position is instrumental in ensuring alignment, mitigating risks, and guiding teams toward successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-level strategic advice on complex projects without direct project management responsibilities.

  • Assist in defining project vision, goals, and overall strategy.

  • Bridge the gap between business and technical teams at an enterprise level (CFMWS has over 5000 employees).

  • Engage directly with CIO and CEO, ensuring clear and impactful reporting.

  • Monitor project performance, identifying areas for intervention and improvement.

  • Actively engage in struggling projects to address risks and ensure alignment.

  • Identify and address key risks early in the project lifecycle.

  • Navigate challenges such as vague vendor commitments and internal complexities (e.g., organizational resistance).

  • Advise on program governance and frameworks, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulations.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to project teams, guiding them on best practices.

  • Provide high-level input to executive leadership without micromanaging.

  • Ensure clear and effective communication across all project stakeholders.

  • Manage stakeholder alignment and track project delays effectively.

  • Provide oversight on vendor selection and contract negotiation.

  • Ensure vendors clearly define deliverables and meet milestones.

  • Monitor vendor performance, escalating issues when necessary.

  • Possess experience in business transformation within technology projects.

  • Provide strategic input into enterprise-level technology initiatives.

  • Engage in technical discussions without being a technical expert.

  • Recognize potential technical pitfalls and escalate appropriately.

  • Comfortable working within mixed private and government environments.

Current Projects & Programs:

  • Implementation of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for retail solutions.

  • HRIS implementation and payroll system migration for 5000 employees

  • Data governance and architecture.

  • IT security roadmap development for each program.

Experience & Skills

  • Program Management, Project Executive, or Senior Advisory experience.

  • Extensive experience in major project advisory roles, preferably in large-scale, multi-year projects.

  • Strong background in program governance and frameworks.

  • Ability to engage with executives and project teams effectively.

  • Skilled in risk assessment, vendor management, and project governance.

  • Highly autonomous, organized, and proactive in identifying and addressing project challenges.
