We are working with a Federal Government client seeking a Software Developer to join their team on an on site project, based in Ottawa. The contract is two years in length and requires a Valid TOP Secret Security Clearance.

Roles and Responsibilities

a. Conduct an assessment of the existing (“as-is”) technical system architecture and define detailed technical requirements for the future (“to-be”) system architecture.
b. Evaluate application system requirements based on the current state assessment and design application system requirements aligned with client processes and workflows.
c. Develop, integrate, and customize applications using .NET, JavaScript, jQuery, and SQL within Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics platforms.
d. Design and implement Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and connectors to facilitate system integration.
e. Assist in testing application functionalities by developing and executing test cases based on use cases, troubleshooting, and resolving application issues.
f. Diagnose and resolve technical issues in collaboration with internal support teams.
g. Provide guidance and support for software build-related challenges.
h. Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure that data management functions—entry, retrieval, modification, and deletion—align with business needs.
i. Conduct unit testing of solution modules during development to ensure functionality and quality.
j. Address bug reports and resolve issues promptly.
k. Prioritize, plan, and execute tasks in accordance with software development life cycle (SDLC) standards.
l. Write clean, efficient code to develop custom applications.
m. Automate processes using appropriate tools and scripting techniques.
n. Validate the accuracy and completeness of programs by generating test data and conducting system acceptance testing.
o. Identify and correct program errors by modifying instructions or adjusting operation sequences.
p. Develop documentation—including specifications, flowcharts, diagrams, and programming instructions—for future reference and modifications.
q. Verify system functionality through testing and refine program sequences or code as needed.
r. Develop, integrate, manage, and maintain custom-built applications and Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).
s. Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to project teams and technical support staff in coding and solution implementation.
t. Work closely with management to ensure solutions align with business strategies and standards.
u. Update management on the development and implementation progress of solutions.
v. Perform other related duties as required by the Technical Authority.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • ten (10) years’ experience, within the last fifteen (15) years, in a Programmer/Software Developer role.
  • ten (10) years’ experience, within the last fifteen (15) years, architecting, designing, and integrating software applications in an enterprise environment.
  • ten (10) years’ experience, within the last fifteen (15) years, developing, designing, building, testing and implementing web and server-side applications running on Windows servers.
  • 5 years experience designing, developing, and supporting web applications using both Microsoft Dynamics 365 (or more recent version) and ADXStudio portal design.
  • 5 years experience experience within the last ten (10) years working with relational database Microsoft SQL Server 2017 (or more recent version) including developing SQL queries and procedures.
  • Experience working with Defence, Intelligence, National Security or Law Enforcement.
