Our client is seeking an experienced Data/Information Architect to contribute to the development and implementation of healthcare data architecture, ensuring interoperability and alignment with industry standards. This role will involve collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, data modeling, and defining data standards to support healthcare initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the client in discussions with external organizations and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including analysts, business subject matter experts, and architects, to gather input on data concepts and solutions.
  • Review and analyze existing healthcare data models and concepts in partnership with national, provincial, and territorial stakeholders.
  • Design and evolve the Healthcare Reference Standard Semantic Logical Data Model (currently at 900+ data elements and expanding).
  • Apply expertise in data architecture and modeling to support healthcare interoperability initiatives.
  • Assess the current healthcare landscape for relevant information, data models, and standards (e.g., FHIR, HL7 RIM, SNOMED CT, LOINC, PS-CA, USCDI, OMOP, ISO-13940, ISO-11179).
  • Align multiple data sources, models, and frameworks to ensure consistency and integration.
  • Contribute to defining data standards, business glossaries, and data requirements to enhance interoperability.
  • Address key architectural considerations such as data consistency, data lifecycle management, technological risks, and metadata modeling.
  • Document and communicate data architecture artifacts to multi-disciplinary audiences.
  • Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Provide guidance on tactical planning for data architecture development and evolution.
  • Work closely with technical teams to develop and promote data standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in Information/Data Architecture, including standards, concepts, patterns, and best practices.
  • Proven expertise in large-scale systems integration and transformation initiatives.
  • Experience in engaging with external stakeholders on data architecture and governance.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the development of information/data models for large organizations, particularly in healthcare.
  • Solid understanding of data governance concepts.
  • Experience with enterprise information models, terminologies, ontologies, and glossaries.
  • Healthcare industry expertise across multiple care sectors (preferred).
  • CPHIMS-CA certification (preferred).

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience in business vision, strategy, and roadmaps for data architecture.
  • Familiarity with DAMA-DMBOK or other data management best practices.
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman.
  • Experience with metadata architecture.
  • Proficiency in SPARX Enterprise Architect tool.
  • Understanding of International Patient Summary (IPS).
  • Experience with HL7 standards (v2, v3 RIM, CDA, FHIR).
  • Familiarity with healthcare terminologies and classifications (e.g., SNOMED-CT, LOINC, CCDD).
  • General knowledge of Enterprise Architecture domains, including Business Architecture.
  • Understanding of Reference and Master Data Management.
