Job Title: Payroll Analyst  (2.5 months contract)

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (37.5 hours per week)
Work Arrangement: Fully On-Site
Compensation: 35-43/hr
Location: Downtown Toronto

Summary:

A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Lead Payroll and HRIS professional to oversee bi-weekly payroll processing and HRIS system administration. This role ensures accurate payroll execution, compliance with regulations, and system enhancements to improve efficiency. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert for payroll and HRIS-related inquiries, lead system implementations, and manage audits, reconciliations, and year-end reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll, including terminations, special payments, and government retention programs.
  • Ensure compliance with collective agreements, CRA regulations, ESA, and internal policies.
  • Administer and troubleshoot HRIS (Dayforce) and lead system upgrades and module implementations.
  • Conduct payroll audits, reconcile accounts, and generate reports for finance and external auditors.
  • Manage benefits and pension administration, including HOOPP reporting and premium reconciliations.
  • Provide training on payroll and HRIS functions to employees and managers.
  • Support year-end reporting, including T4s, T4As, ROEs, and compliance filings (WSIB, EHT, PSSD).

Qualifications:

  • A certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is required.
  • 5+ years of full-cycle payroll experience (1,000+ employees preferred).
  • Experience with Dayforce HRIS and payroll systems is A MUST
  • Strong knowledge of defined benefit pension plans and benefits administration.
  • Experience in a unionized environment with multiple collective agreements preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle sensitive issues professionally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll-related reporting tools.
