The Department of Advanced Education is responsible for all post-secondary education related matters in Nova Scotia. This includes the Nova Scotia Student Assistance Office and Post-Secondary Accessibility Services as well as oversight over the ten universities, Nova Scotia Community College, private career colleges, and language schools.
This position will support the Programs and Accountability Branch of the Department of Advanced Education.
If you have high attention to detail, are action-oriented, and want to join a dynamic organization, we have an exciting opportunity for you to explore as an Administrative Assistant (Secretary 3).
As the Administrative Assistant, you will serve as a main point of contact and quality control for a large volume of inquiries (including ministerial) and provide quality document assurance. Working under minimal supervision, you will perform a wide range of complex secretarial and admin support duties of a responsible and confidential nature. You will provide senior level support, undertaking more complex administrative assignments, including administering the Dr. P. Anthony Johnstone Entrance Scholarship.
This position will report to the Executive Director, Programs and Accountability.
This may be the right opportunity for you if you completed a 1-year business course with 4 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
You are resourceful, detail-oriented, reliable and have a high degree of organizational skills, which are required to determine priorities with minimal supervision in a busy environment. You possess sound knowledge of office practices and procedures and a comprehensive knowledge of departmental functions.
You are an exceptional communicator (written and verbal) with strong time management skills. You have sound judgement and initiative, often working independently to resolve administrative issues, selecting alternative courses of action.
Essential skills include advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel), as well as the ability to create and manage processes and other efficient office management practices.

Pay Grade: CL 22
Salary Range: $1,934.21 - $2,139.34 Bi-Weekly
