About Our Opportunity


Are you a creative storyteller with a passion for the visual arts and content creation? The AGNS is seeking a Digital Marketing Coordinator to play a vital role in supporting our marketing and communication strategies. This is your chance to amplify the AGNS brand, showcase exceptional art, and engage with diverse audiences through innovative digital content.
 

Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Officer, you will develop engaging, high-quality content for various digital platforms, including social media, email campaigns, and the AGNS website. You'll also stay ahead of emerging trends, helping shape our strategies to connect meaningfully with our community and beyond.
 

This is a 2-year term position.

Primary Accountabilities

 

  • Content Creation & Strategy: Develop and share compelling digital content (Video content, photography, written content, and themed content) to enhance AGNS’s exhibitions, programs, and initiatives.
  • Social Media Management: Build the digital audience and execute day-to-day social media strategies, increasing engagement and raising the gallery’s profile through digital channels.
  • Copywriting & Editorial: Research and develop an understanding of the work on view and create engaging written content for all digital platforms, reflecting the AGNS tone and brand.
  • Website Maintenance: Continuously update and optimize the AGNS website (WordPress/Shopify) with accessibility, SEO, UX design, and brand standards in mind.
  • Collaboration: Work across departments to build editorial calendars and elevate content to new heights.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Provide regular reports on digital performance and insights to inform future strategies.
  • Community Engagement: Monitor, respond, maximize user-generated content on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Google, and TripAdvisor.
  • Email Marketing: Design and coordinate newsletters using MailChimp and other platforms to turn members and subscribers into visitors and heighten engagement with digital content.

Qualifications and Experience


You’re a skilled writer, editor, and multimedia content creator with a strong understanding of digital platforms and how to maximize their impact. You have an appreciation for and understanding of the visual arts. You thrive in a collaborative environment, are detail-oriented, and have a proven ability to adapt to evolving trends in digital marketing. Along with this, you have:
 

  • A post-secondary degree in a related field plus one year of experience in digital marketing, content creation, or a related fields.
  • Proficiency in managing social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Meta Business Suite).
  • Experience with website management (WordPress, Shopify considered an asset) and understanding of SEO and digital accessibility standards.
  • Strong skills in writing, editing, and multimedia content creation (written, video, photography, audio).
  • Familiarity with email marketing tools (e.g., MailChimp).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • An understanding of the visual arts and the cultural sector in Canada and beyond and immerging technologies would be a huge bonus.

Working Conditions


This position is based out of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia at 1723 Hollis St, Halifax NS. This role is primarily Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekend to support gallery or fundraising events.

Additional Information


The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is set to grow our fundraising activities to align with the strategic goals of the gallery. This role will be crucial to that growth by providing support to a small, focused team and working collaboratively across the whole organisation to make the most of every opportunity. The successful candidate will share our passion for inspiring our donor community to engage more people with art and artists

This is a TERM employment opportunity with anticipated end date of May 7, 2027.  The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Salary Range:  $1,844.97 - $2,556.10 Bi-Weekly
