Supporting and working alongside the members of the Canadian Armed Forces and actively preparing them to defend and serve our country could be your path to an extremely fulfilling career.
As part of a dynamic and dedicated team, as a Fitness and Sports Instructor, you will have the opportunity to lead Fitness, Sports and Aquatics programs for a very highly motivated and professional clientele. Daily, you will develop, deliver and assess Tactical programs based on established employment standards to ensure the members of the Canadian Armed Forces can safely and effectively perform their duties in operations.

You will conduct the fitness evaluations for a number of specialty trades within the CAF. Not only will you have the opportunity to conduct the specialty evaluations but you will also have th enhance to design exercise programs to help the members prepare for their new career.
Are you a fitness professional with a love for sports? There are a number of different ways to get involved with the CAF Military Sports Program while working within the Fitness department. You can join the CAF Athletic Trainer Program, coach a base team, become an official for regional championships or even join the CAF International sports program as a manager, coach, trainer or official.
Education, Certifications and Licenses
- College diploma or certificate in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences, or a related field
- Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification
- Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Certificate (an asset)
Experience
- In preparing and conducting physical fitness training sessions
- In instructing health and physical fitness training modules
- In applying policies, procedures, and regulations
- In evaluating physical fitness
- In aquatics such as lifeguarding or swim instruction
- In officiating at least three sports such as soccer, volleyball, basketball, racquet sports, and hockey
- In coaching sports

English Essential / Bilingual (English and French) an asset

Perform moderate lifting, carrying, pulling and/or pushing (i.e. more than 10 lbs/4.5 kg but less than 50 lbs/23 kg).
Successful completion of the Personnel Support Programs (PSP) Fitness & Sports Level 1 & 2 Courses by the end of probation.
As part of the selection process, candidates will undergo a physical fitness test (FORCE Evaluation) and must achieve a minimum level of Bronze.
