Our client, a leading company in the transportation and logistics industry, is seeking an experienced accounting professional with a strong technical background in ASPE and multi-entity financial reporting to join their team as a Controller. This full-time, permanent position is based in Mississauga and offers excellent benefits. It is an opportunity to work in a dynamic and growing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Statement Preparation & Analysis – Compile, review, and interpret financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries, to provide leadership with a clear understanding of the organization’s financial standing.
  • Budget Development & Forecasting – Actively participate in shaping the company’s annual financial plan, offering strategic input to enhance financial projections and performance assessments.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance – Establish and uphold strong financial controls to protect company assets and ensure adherence to regulatory and internal financial policies.
  • Cash Flow Oversight – Track and regulate cash flow and working capital to maintain financial stability and support operational needs.
  • Expense & Cost Optimization – Assess expenditures and financial data to uncover opportunities for reducing costs and improving operational efficiencies.
  • Tax & Regulatory Compliance – Ensure all tax filings and financial reporting obligations are met, working alongside external tax consultants when necessary.
  • Financial Planning & Strategy – Partner with senior finance leadership to craft and execute financial strategies that support overall business objectives.
  • Audit Coordination – Manage the financial audit process by liaising with external auditors, preparing necessary documentation, and addressing any audit-related findings.
  • Team Leadership & Development – Supervise and provide guidance to accounting team members, including general accountants, ensuring efficiency and professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. CPA certification preferred.
  • 5+ years’ proven experience as a Controller, or similar financial management role in the transportation and logistics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of APSE or IFRS accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency with financial software and ERP systems (Truckmate/ TMW preferred).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
