Agilus is recruiting for a Development Lead in the Oil and Gas Sector in Calgary, Alberta.
The Development Lead provides leadership, direction, and professional engineering guidance to Operations & Logistics (O&L) Products to ensure safe, cost-effective and timely execution of a subset of risk mitigation and regulatory compliance projects across 17 O&L Products sites (16 Canadian Terminals and the Ethanol Plant) in 5 provinces
A typical day:
• Accountable for safe, cost-effective and timely development of portfolio of risk mitigation and regulatory compliance projects across the 17 O&L Products owned and operated sites, including the Canadian Terminals and the Ethanol plant
• Leads and directs the efforts of the integrated team, consisting of development, execution, technical, and functional partners to deliver a portfolio of safe, efficient and effective capital projects
• Ensures that the integrated team effectively prioritize and develops a portfolio of risk mitigation and regulatory compliance projects within the constraints of the long-range capital plan, the major event calendar (MEC) and planned site outages.
• Ensures all health, safety and environmental standards are upheld; monitors the effective application of project development and execution best practices and addresses actions arising from Gate Reviews
• Identifies and evaluates alternatives to mitigate business risks, address complex business opportunities, and realize maximum value . This includes build and non-build options.
• Screens viable options and completes concept selection and design
• Obtain approvals from multiple stakeholders and senior leadership (typical sponsor) as part of the staged gate keeping processes
• Assess the impact of proposed changes throughout the lifecycle of the project
Successful candidates will have:
• 10+ years relevant Oil and Gas industry experience, preferably in Refinery, Pipelines or Distribution operations. • 5+ years of project development experience with accountability for resourcing, integrated team leadership, budgeting, scheduling and strategic planning with a demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop technical and project staff
• Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Chemical Engineering with Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation
• Project expertise in the development and execution of complex, multi-disciplinary projects and familiarity with the interrelationship of all engineering disciplines
• Demonstrated understanding of industry engineering standards, best practices, tools, applications in support of development of safe, reliable, cost effective and timely engineering deliverables
• An analytical and problem-solving mindset with strong business insight and an understanding of how to recognize opportunities for value creation
