Eligibility:

This posting is open to Permanent Teachers and Probationary Teachers currently employed by Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board. This is a one (1) year appointment, which may be renewed to three (3) years.

Salary Range:

  • Paid based on the salary grid of the Collective Agreement with OECTA according to QECO rating and years of experience.
  • Responsibility Allowance

Commencing immediately

Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
  • Teaching experience in both educational panels, an asset
  • Experience working with equity seeking groups or lived experience through personal understanding of the realities and concerns of communities and groups such as Indigenous, Black, racialized, persons with disabilities and of a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ or other underrepresented communities, an asset.
  • Religious Education, Part 1
  • Minimum of 5 years classroom teaching experience

Notes:

The successful candidate will support the building of Catholic character and culture within school communities through the effective delivery of inclusive education programs and curriculum initiatives that integrate faith across all subject areas that promote equity. The successful candidate will support initiatives and system strategies related to Equity and Inclusive Education & Caring and Safe Catholic Schools. The successful candidate will work as part of an integrated team supporting the work of the system in partnership with other central staff.

The candidate must be an effective communicator who has demonstrated the ability to collaborate as part of a team with school and board staff as well as community partners. The candidate must have well developed interpersonal skills and an in-depth, current knowledge of Catholic curriculum and assessment. The successful candidate will support an inquiry-based approach to Indigenous education focusing on the themes of teaching and learning, student engagement and issues of equity and inclusion linked to the Multi-Year Strategic Plan. In addition, the successful candidate must be committed to their own faith and professional development within a framework of an authentic ministry of service.

The candidate will provide leadership and direction to our elementary and secondary Special Assignment Teachers as well as liaise with E.A.C., I.A.C., and S.E.A.C., Ministry of Education, student leadership groups, and other regional and community agencies.

The capacity to manage and account for budgets and grants is a necessity.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide their own vehicle to travel to school sites. Travel expenses will be paid according to Article 25 of the current Collective Agreement.
