Agilus is recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Engineer in the oil & gas industry in Sarnia, Ontario. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will oversee the mechanical engineering aspects of projects within the oil & gas and energy industries. This individual will be responsible for leading the mechanical engineering team, ensuring technical excellence, and driving efficient project execution. A typical day: Drive innovation by researching new technologies, materials, and methods to enhance mechanical engineering processes. Collaborate with project managers, procurement teams, and construction teams to align engineering deliverables with project schedules and budgets. Ensure all mechanical engineering work complies with relevant codes, standards (e.g., ASME, API, TEMA), and client requirements. Conduct quality reviews of mechanical engineering deliverables to ensure accuracy and consistency. Lead and mentor the mechanical engineering team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Oversee the mechanical design of pressure vessels, piping systems, heat exchangers, and related equipment. Successful candidates will have: Experience with heat exchanger design, pressure vessels, lifting devices and piping systems is essential. Leadership ability to manage teams and coordinate across disciplines. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 7 + years of mechanical engineering experience in the oil & gas, energy, or heavy industrial sectors. Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Ontario or eligibility. Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PV Elite, Compress or similar tools).
