Veterinary Assistant

The Vancouver Animal Emergency and Referral Centre is an established, cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary facility located in the heart of metro Vancouver.  Our Diagnostic Imaging service welcomes an enthusiastic, highly motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our expanding team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an organized, motivated, and empathetic individual to join us in an important role in supporting our newly established service.

You will gain valuable experience through exposure to a wide range of specialty cases, with ample opportunities for continued learning and growth.

This role will include:

  • Preparing patients for ultrasound and safely restrain patients for procedures  

  • Preparing slides for cytology & completing necessary lab-work submissions accurately

  • Assisting with digital radiographs. Willingness to learn CT/MRI procedures.  

  • Acts as a liaison between specialty departments requiring diagnostic imaging services

General Requirements:

  • Veterinary Assistant (VA) or Veterinary Office Assistant (VOA) program certificate is an asset

  • Previous experience in a veterinary referral hospital setting

  • Exceptional client service skills that build trust and loyalty with clients

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with a dynamic and diverse team

  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable under pressure, effectively managing stress while maintaining productivity and focus.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to carry out assignments independently

  • Positive outlook and enthusiasm for learning

  • High aptitude for veterinary software programs

Schedule: Include Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. 8 am-6 pm. (30hrs per week)

and occasional coverage in another department as needed.

Compensation: $19.00 to $23.00 per hour. The hourly rate range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
