Role Responsibilities

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader for the position of Director, IPADS to join our team. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director will be responsible for managing a team dedicated to coordinating Indigenous health-related projects, programs, and initiatives. This role provides an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact in partnership with Indigenous communities, organizations, and leaders.

 

The job responsibilities include:

  • Leading and overseeing a team responsible for the successful delivery and coordination of IPADS projects and programs within the department.
  • Collaborating with Indigenous health leaders, First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities to develop and implement health-related projects, policies, and regulatory changes.
  • Providing leadership, vision, and strategic oversight to ensure the smooth operation of the team, fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
  • Building and sustaining strong partnerships with First Nations, Métis, Inuit peoples, and key stakeholders, including the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch within the Government of Canada.
  • Driving strategic initiatives that advance Indigenous reconciliation, inclusion, and opportunity, while ensuring effective information management and training capacity within the team.
  • Offering timely and well-informed advice to the senior leadership team, contributing to the division and ministry’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • Champion the development of strong, effective relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and other relevant partners to support mutual goals and enhance program outcomes.

Qualifications

Minimum Recruitment Standards
University graduation in Health, Public Health, Health Administration, Indigenous Relations, Commerce, Economics and Business Administration, supplemented by seven years progressively responsible experience.

 

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 
1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 
1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

 

The following experience is required: 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning and policy development.
  • Proven track record of building strong relationships and successfully collaborating with internal and external government stakeholders, local Indigenous communities and other related associations and organizations.
  • In depth knowledge of health system priorities, primary care delivery, and issues within the political, economic, and global environment.

 

The following experience is considered as assets:

  • Excellent understanding of government structure, legislative frameworks, and Alberta's health care system.

 

The following experience will be given preference:

  • Individuals with Indigenous cultural knowledge will be preferred.

Full-time position working 36.25 hours per week.
