The Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services has significant oversight and involvement in the public security and emergency services through its various divisions and operations. The department is responsible for the administration of law enforcement, correctional services, policing and police oversight and public safety. The Ministry supports crime prevention and restorative justice programs, as well as programs and services to support victims of crime, including those affected by domestic violence and human trafficking. The Ministry also coordinates large scale emergency and disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery programs and initiatives.

This position is a senior administrative role responsible for providing administrative services and support within the Community Corrections & Release Program Branch.
This includes inventory control, compilation of month-end financial reports and statistics, maintaining systems to monitor budget and purchasing control, typing confidential documents of a sensitive nature, computer Site Coordinator and other complex work.
For this role, we are looking for a collaborative, agile, solution focused individual with strong communication skills and someone who is customer service orientated with
strong administrative skills including a working knowledge of software applications. This position requires strong communication skills, supervisory skills, and considerable organizational abilities in order to multi task and have the ability to deal with changing priorities. Position requires independence and decision making skills for handling of day to day administrative requirements, referring only circumstances of an unusual nature to their supervisor.
Some of the key responsibilities of this positions include:
• Recruitment, training and coordination of Administrative Support 3 positions
• Oversight and leadership of frontline district administrative support staff
• Ensure continuity of quality assurance mechanisms throughout the district
• Ongoing collaboration and development of networks within Corrections and other Justice partners
• Identification and coordination of administrative resource needs in the district
• Help plan and facilitate district administrative meetings
• Team building

Requirements:
High School Diploma and three years of related experience in Office Management, Administrative Supervision, Operations Administration etc.
Equivalencies: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Required:
• proficiency with a variety of office equipment, computer programs - Word, Excel, and Outlook etc.
• excellent keyboarding, data entry and communication skills (both written and verbal)
Experience working with the government database systems such as ORCA, JOIN, CReF, 1GX, Bernie or similar will be considered as an asset.
Preference will be given to Candidates with supervisory experience.

There is one full-time temporary (12 months) position available.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week (full-time).
