Your Opportunity

You will work with general supervision with general supervision and direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Designer. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include Revit design, calculations, and fieldwork. The projects that you may be assigned to will have more complex features.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares electrical construction drawings and specifications in conjunction with our in-house mechanical, architectural, and civil/structural design teams.

  • Leads or prepares designs for fire alarm and power distribution, standby power distribution (UPS & generators), lighting, and facility grounding, under senior direction for complex projects depending on project

  • Documents progress/results through the preparation of memos, minutes, and reports as a record of events

  • Provides technical support in client meetings

  • Conducts site visit surveys of buildings for the purposes of collecting design information related to electrical service, fire alarm, grounding, and lightning protection as they relate to buildings' facilities

  • Prepares field information documentation of site visit surveys

  • Review shop drawings and equipment submittals for compliance with building construction document requirements

  • Provides field construction management support (inspections, punch list generation, and project close-out)

  • Adheres to corporate quality control and assurance processes for all electrical design work

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proficient knowledge of the latest AutoCAD, and Revit with the ability to effectively communicate design intent to CAD staff

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) applications

  • Lighting design software knowledge is an asset

  • Power Systems Studies software knowledge (SKM, ETAP) is an asset

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven ability to work exceptionally well and efficiently in a team environment with a proven strong customer service commitment

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or related engineering

  • P.Eng. license or meets requirements for application of one

  • 4 years of experience with electrical systems, preferably with fire alarm design experience in the consulting engineering industry

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
