Your Opportunity
Stantec's Transportation group provides planning, design, and construction administration services for roadway, highway, transit/rail, bridge, and related projects. We are currently seeking a contract administrator to complement our transportation team in Ottawa and play a lead role in the delivery of environmental assessment and functional/preliminary and detailed design assignments primarily for public sector clients. Due to expanding business opportunities in Ontario and elsewhere within the company, this position offers growth in the areas of technical/professional development and project management.
Your Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Construction Administrator shall work on all aspects of administering a construction contract, including but not limited to:
Assists with monitoring and calculation of production rates
Assists with monitoring compliance with and administering terms of operational constraints of the contract
Assist with monitoring of compliance to commitments of and administering construction contract provisions regarding the Contractor's Quality Control Performance Measures
Checks and inspects construction activities and operations, and works to ensure compliance with the contract documents, drawings, and specifications
Conducts site surveys, confirms scope of work, obtains relevant information, equipment and materials, and maintains quality and payment records in a daily diary for the work completed
Compiles field/test data in a report form
Liaise/coordinate with service providers for specialized inspections and/or testing to ensure the tasks are completed under the terms or reference, specifications, or agreement
Attend site meetings as required
Obtain video / photographic records as required
Record, review, and address contractor questions and clarifications by reporting to the Contract Administrator for resolution if not already provided to the contractor
Attend site meetings and reconnaissance on-site
Able to handle multiple priorities without losing focus
Position will require in-office and on-site duties.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Prior experience working on MTO or City of Ottawa projects is an asset
Able to work on weekends and nights, as required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work well in a team environment
Proficiency with MS Office
A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle
Detail oriented
Education and Experience
A Post Secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology / Technician
Minimum 4 years experience in engineering/construction working on transportation structures projects
Either registration as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with PEO as a Technician or Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T.
Designation as determined by OACETT as a Road Construction Senior Inspector (RCSI) or Road Construction Contract Administration (RCCA) is an asset
