Agilus is recruiting for a Senior Project Controls Scheduler in the Mining Industry in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
The Scheduler provides services for scheduling and reporting related to resource loading, project planning, project baselines and project progress to the Projects team and engineering.
Responsibilities:
Conduct post project audits to identify and implement accuracy and productivity improvements as they relate to planning and scheduling. This position improves productivity on engineering projects by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through improved scheduling of engineering and construction activities.
Strive to continually improve the site engineering schedules and make recommendations to improve the overall scheduling process. Maintain and update project performance measures and other project metrics for project components and schedule execution. Identify and remove waste and non-value added activities.
Monitor project schedule delays, identifying and addressing areas of concern regarding limited progress of specific tasks and conflicts on the critical path. Support objectives to deliver zero harm to employees, environment, and neighboring communities by communicating schedules and manpower counts to stakeholders to prevent overlapping work and promote safe work environment.
Understand and ensure compliance to the project controls and scheduling processes. Coordinate with other functional teams to optimize schedules and resources. Build and maintain new and existing engineering project schedules at all stages of the project life cycle.
Identify schedule conflicts and initiate a process to address them. Maintain and update project information including project status, schedule compliance and progress on deliverables. Oversee the collection of measurement data on schedule, resources and physical progress, including verification of data integrity, as required for project tracking purposes and reporting.
Interact with project team and task managers to define project scope, to develop and update detailed schedules, and to identify variances from the original plan. Monitor the portfolio of schedules, including reporting of schedule progress, schedule deviations and suggested corrective actions.
Build and maintain baseline schedule for each project and identify the impact of schedule variances from the baseline including incorporating management of change for the schedules. Maintain engineering resource loading in schedules.
Work with contractors to incorporate their schedules and progress into the project schedules. Work with Project Managers, Estimator, and Cost Controller on project forecasting and cost. Provide backup coverage for others within Project Controls.
Requirements:
Technologist diploma or equivalent demonstrated skills. Experience in similar industrial, mining, processing, manufacturing or related setting
Prior experience as an engineering and construction scheduler is strongly preferred. Knowledge and experience with scheduling software (Primavera and MS Project)
Skill set to use Word, Excel and estimating tools (MS Project or Primavera). Ability to simultaneously track multiple projects from concept to close-out
