Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of experiences including our Corporate Speaker Series, Fireside Chats, Volunteer opportunities and Networking events.

Eligibility Note: To qualify for a student (Co-op/Internship) opportunity, students must be enrolled in their academic studies at a post-secondary institution (university/college) and must be returning to school after completion of their work term with QuadReal.  If you are a student registered in an official co-op program at your post-secondary institution and completion of a final work term is a mandatory component for you to graduate, you are eligible to apply with the understanding that you will leave QuadReal at the end of your work term or have the possibility to be considered for full-time opportunities.

Based in Toronto, the Co-op/Intern, Legal, will report to the Director, Legal and work closely with the Legal team on acquisitions, dispositions, financings, joint ventures, corporate and commercial matters, and the ongoing maintenance of a rapidly growing international portfolio of real estate assets.

What You Will Experience:

  • Support the Legal team with respect to the purchase and sale of real estate assets across multiple jurisdictions, including review and negotiation of legal documentation such as term sheets, agreements of purchase and sale, subscription agreements, partnership and joint venture agreements, development and asset management agreements, construction agreements, non-disclosure agreements and providing due diligence oversight.

  • Work closely with QuadReal’s business units, clients, stakeholders and external counsel on a variety of corporate and commercial matters (including commercial agreements, litigation, environmental, insurance, intellectual property, tax, labour & employment and other matters), as well as corporate governance and regulatory compliance.

  • Assist with making legal and business decisions in real estate transactions and investments.

  • Work with legal counsel on all aspects of real estate investments, including corporate structuring, insurance, environmental and tax matters.

  • Develop and maintain legal document precedents, policies and best practices for the management of real estate investments.

What You Will Bring:

  • Currently enrolled in an academic program and finishing their first or second year of law school.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; detail-oriented and proficient in building and handling complicated data sets.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate and present results that articulate key themes and messages.

  • Must be able to allocate time effectively and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, handle multiple demands and competing priorities, and adapt to new ideas and change.  Comfortable following direction but also contributing to the direction.

  • Must have advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and MSWord.

  • Must be extremely proactive and work well in a collaborative environment, with the ability to take guidance but then move projects forward independently,

  • Embrace and pro-actively support QuadReal’s values and its culture of environmental sustainability and corporate and social responsibility.
