Role

Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Indigenous Health, the Executive Director, Indigenous Health Programming will be responsible for managing the branch and team to coordinate Indigenous consultation and engagement activities for the department.  The team will work together to consult health-related projects, policies, and regulatory changes. You will provide executive-level leadership, vision, and oversight for all aspects of the management and operation of the branch. You will work collaboratively with the directors and provide strategic oversight and direction. As Executive Director, you will collaborate with First Nations, Métis Settlements, other Indigenous communities, and organizations as well as stakeholders to build and sustain partnerships that facilitate an effective work environment, advance strategic initiatives, ensure effective information management, and training capacity. With your executive leadership approach, you will commit to partnering with Alberta’s Indigenous people in pursuit of reconciliation, inclusion, and opportunity. You will provide timely advice to the senior leadership team and work with the division and ministry to collaborate, develop and build strong relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations. 

 

 

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be a proven strategic leader with a systems-thinking approach along with significant senior leadership experience. You will have demonstrated strengths in developing strong relationships and successfully collaborating with internal and external government stakeholders, local Indigenous communities and other related associations and organizations. A proficient communicator, you will provide sound and timely advice and recommendations to senior leadership. You will build policy and leadership capacity to develop direct reports and ensure that the Indigenous perspective is represented in an appropriate, inclusive, and meaningful way. Additionally, you will support the vision of the whole unit and enhance policy and technical capacity with your team. Preference will be given to those with Indigenous cultural knowledge. A related degree is preferred.

 $5,082.46 - $6,679.30 bi-weekly ($132,652 - $174,329 annually)
