Responsibilities:
The Principal Geotechnical Engineer must have a strong technical background in geotechnical and civil engineering with knowledge of investigation, design, reporting, and construction practices.
The person will need to possess a competent understanding of project/program management fundamentals and have a firm understanding of the relationship between technical delivery, project scope, costs, and schedule
Lead the geotechnical engineering team and provide technical review as well as Plan and mentor mid-level engineers in the planning of complex field explorations, review exploration logs, evaluate exploration data and review laboratory testing plans to ensure the testing plans meet project objectives.
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and figures. Mentor and guide mid-level and junior staff in selection of appropriate analyses methods and representative and appropriate engineering parameters
Support business development activities with new and existing clients and Assist in growing the department to expand capabilities and project backlog.
Establishing technical standards and procedures for the geotechnical and materials engineering business sectors
Successful candidates will have:
Master’s or Doctorate degree in geotechnical engineering from an reputable institution.
Registered as a professional engineer
A minimum of 15 years of experience in geotechnical engineering at an intermediate and senior role and a Minimum of 5 years of Canadian experience.
Strong Understanding of geotechnical material characterization, soil mechanics, foundation engineering, slope stability, and seismic hazard assessments
Ability to lead several projects or tasks with a sound understanding of overall goals, objectives, and costs to our clients
Excellent communication skills: verbal, business writing, electronic communications and presentations, plus Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work
