Our client a non-profit organization is looking to hire an accountant to join their team. They will be working in close collaboration with staff across Canada and is responsible for all aspects of accounting. 

Responsibilities:
  • Full cycle accounts payable activities including review and posting of vendor invoices and ensuring proper account
  • distributions, application of sales tax rebates, vendor payments and vendor reconciliations on a weekly basis. Prepare
  • bank payment batches for senior staff to review/release.
  • Monitor Preauthorized Payments, including recording in financial system
  • Daily verification of the revenue sub-ledger (Raiser’s Edge) prior to posting to financial system (Financial Edge)
  • Bank deposits and entering and maintenance of non-revenue cash receipts
  • Cash Management
  • Preparation and monitoring of accruals as required.
  • Importing and posting payroll allocations
  • Preparation of reports on variances of budgets and recommend corrective actions.
  • Adhere to the monthly closing processes
  • Process and distribute management reports to departmental business partners, providing operational support as required
  • Assist with year-end audit requirements. Prepare annual audit working papers and supporting documents and perform
  • analysis to support the balance sheet and income statements.
  • Assist with T3010 filing
  • Adherence to all policies and procedures. Ability to relate OCC policies into effective and efficient internal controls and workflow
  • Identify and implement improvements in performance reporting
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business, or related field, or equivalent skills and experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) to (3) years of experience.
  • Knowledge of current financial regulations and experience in non-profit charity environment(s).
  • Demonstrated experience working with major accounting software and Microsoft SharePoint, knowledge of Financial Edge an asset.
  • Non-profit experience is considered an asset.
