Nova Scotia is rich in natural resources – including biodiversity, forests, provincial parks, and the land we manage. The Department of Natural Resources is responsible for the development, management, conservation and protection of forest, parks and wildlife resources and the administration of the province's Crown land. Together we are working with Nova Scotians to build a better future through sustainable natural resource management as we all benefit from the natural health and wealth of the province.
The Regional Services Branch delivers department programs and services through an extensive network of field offices. These programs and services include forest management programs, Crown lands surveys, regional geological services, public outreach and education, planning and implementing Integrated Resource Management (IRM), hunter safety, forest fire prevention, detection and suppression, monitoring of forest insects and diseases, operation and maintenance of Provincial Parks, and resource conservation.
Currently, there is an Area Manager opportunity available in Lunenburg.
The Department of Natural Resources is seeking a dynamic Area Manager to lead program delivery in Lunenburg. Through the effective leadership of staff and resources, you will be responsible for the efficient delivery of Department Programs including the management of permanent, seasonal and casual staff and associated budgets.
Programs to be delivered include geology, forest protection, parks and outdoor recreation, land administration, private and crown land management, wildlife, and field reports for integrated resource management.
As Area Manager, you will be a vital member of the Regional Management Team and the work you do will help us achieve our Departmental objectives for program delivery across the Province.

Typically, ideal candidates will have a Department recognized two year Natural Resources technical diploma as well as 7 years of experience in resource management, including administration and leadership roles. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Frequent travel across the province is a component of this position; as such, a valid driver’s license is required.

You are results oriented with a high level of initiative and motivation. You have demonstrated problem solving, time management and organization abilities as well as proficiency with computers.

Pay Grade: EC 12
Salary Range: $3,687.15 - $4,608.93 Bi-Weekly
