Role Responsibilities

Are you ready to make a difference? As a Senior Policy Advisor in the Economic Corridors Unit, you’ll shape Alberta’s economic future by advancing critical trade pathways that connect communities, industries, and opportunities.

Economic corridors connect two or more centers of economic activity (population centers, industry hubs, centers of production) through infrastructure, logistics, technology and policy. They can involve a broad range of infrastructure including transportation, energy, power, telecommunications, and other utilities. In addition to physical infrastructure, corridors include service markets and the coordination of regulations and policies across multiple jurisdictions and/or sectors.

In this role, you will lead research, policy development, stakeholder engagement, and project implementation to help drive Alberta’s economic, social, and environmental goals as they relate to the development and advancement of Alberta’s economic corridors.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Advancing data-driven strategies for economic corridor development and implementation.
  • Conducting environmental scans, research, and data analysis to inform decision-making.
  • Preparing high-quality briefing notes, reports, and recommendations for executive leadership.
  • Developing innovative tools and industry intelligence systems to provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Analyzing trends, policy issues, and program opportunities to optimize initiatives.
  • Integrating programs, processes and systems across Ministries (e.g., TEC’s Capital Planning Process, Federal-Provincial-Territorial forums, existing infrastructure priorities).
  • Supporting the establishment of a unified economic corridors approach across government and defining a collective long-term vision for expanding corridors in Alberta and beyond.
  • Managing contracts from initiation to deliverables monitoring and evaluation.
  • Coordinating stakeholder engagements to foster collaboration and information exchange.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to synthesize and present complex information clearly.
  • Strategic thinking and a proactive approach to navigating complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and foster teamwork across diverse groups.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking to identify innovative solutions and anticipate challenges.
  • Adaptability and resilience to work effectively under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • A passion for innovation, sustainability, and delivering impactful results.

This position is expected to be able to work in a fast paced, high profile environment and deliver clear and concise products under short timelines.
