Your Opportunity

We are seeking a professional and dynamic Senior Process Mechanical Engineer to join our Water group at our Winnipeg location.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Hydraulic modelling for pump and process systems including water intakes, wastewater outfalls, forcemains, plant distribution piping, plant process piping, modeling of water systems, and modelling of sludge systems.

  • Wastewater pump station design including pump type and model selection.

  • Process narrative development and development of P&ID Drawings.

  • Preparation of process mechanical, domestic plumbing and sanitary plumbing drawings and specifications.

  • Providing on-site inspection and commissioning of pump systems and treatment facilities.

  • Quantity and cost estimation;

  • Review of shop drawings for compliance with construction contract documents;

  • Other duties required to fulfill Stantec’s role on this project.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • A minimum of 15 years of related work experience, with at least 10 years’ experience in any or a combination of the following: design, equipment selection, commissioning of systems for municipal and/or industrial water or wastewater facilities.

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited University and either a registered P. Eng. or the ability to become registered with EGM as a P.Eng.

  • Experience dealing with local utilities for service connection, design compliance and coordination.

  • Solid knowledge of wastewater processes as headworks, primary treatment, bioreactors, clarification and filtration, biosolid management and pump stations.

  • Solid knowledge and application of the mechanical requirements and guidelines per Hydraulic Institute, AWWA, ASME, ANSI, provincial water and wastewater standards and other related standards such as FDA and CDWQG.

  • Demonstrated skill in AFT Fathom

  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Experience with staff supervision and mechanical group operation support is an asset

  • Experience with Process Modeling is an asset.

  • Experience with Design Build Projects is an asset.

  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills are required as is an ability to work independently within the bounds of direction provided by the project manager;

  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects;

  • A valid Manitoba driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required for this position;

  • Travel may be required;

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering

  • Licensed Professional Engineer.

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience.

Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
