Your Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Environmental Services Engagement Manager, and with a strong alliance to the Marketing Public Relations Lead, Strategic Growth Marketing and Sector Marketing teams, the CW is part investigative journalist, part storyteller, with excellent communication skills. The position plays a key role in supporting content marketing strategies and employee communications for Environmental Services. Working in tandem with business unit public relations and marketing teams, the CW provides vital support in identifying, generating, and disseminating messaging, stories, and insight from practitioners and team counterparts for a variety of external and internal platforms, including Stantec.com, social media, HubSpot, Ceros, traditional media, and the company’s intranet.

Key Role & Responsibilities:

Content Development – Copywriting & Editing

  • Develop, implement, and analyse content marketing campaigns that drive brand awareness, web traffic, social media engagement, and media coverage, supporting lead generation

  • Strategize with Environmental Services Strategic Pursuits (ESSP) colleagues to plan, create, and publish content on a variety of media channels, in various formats, while ensuring that key strategic and brand messages are consistent and communicated effectively to target audiences

  • Work in close partnership with SEO, Graphic Design, and Digital Marketing professionals to ensure that the produced content (words, photos, videos, graphics, etc.) aligns with the overall goals of each campaign

  • Create high-performing content (words, photos, video, graphics) to grow audiences while increasing positive brand sentiment and awareness

  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations (MCPR) colleagues to drive cohesive vision and roadmap for content.

  • Leverage innovative storytelling and emerging platforms to identify and engage with existing and new audiences

Collaboration/Brainstorming

  • Embrace a collaborative work environment and meet with Public Relations Leads to establish weekly priorities, assignments, and progress toward long-term goals

  • Participates in larger ESSP team meetings, to discuss specific content initiatives and contribute to brainstorm sessions for story and promotional campaign development and content marketing strategies.

Marketing System Support/Leadership

  • Working with end users, use the Stantec Marketing Knowledge Center (SMKC) to incorporate the principals of teamwork, collaboration, and information-sharing to achieve greater effectiveness in marketing-related projects and processes

  • Assist in the development and coordination of regional content for Stantec's communications systems and tools including the Stantec Marketing Knowledge Center (SMKC), stantec.com, Stantec Pipeline, The Lens, etc.

Employee Engagement

  • Responsible for crafting engaging and informative internal communications content that keeps employees informed about business unit news, updates, initiatives, and culture, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals and fostering employee engagement across various communication channels.

  • Contribute to our people-driven culture by supporting the larger goals of MCPR colleagues in identifying and engaging practitioners in promotional activities (e.g., blogging, development of white papers, community engagement activities, etc.)

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree in environmental science, communications, public relations, English, journalism, or marketing.

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in content marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or professional writing role.

  • Creative, strategic thinker

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills

  • Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities

  • Excellent interviewing, writing and verbal communication skills

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills required – including storytelling (developing a compelling narrative)

  • Strong project management skills

  • Highly proficient with web content management systems

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, as well as to work autonomously

Salary Range(s):

  • Lower Mainland $65,700 - Lower Mainland $95,300 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
