Summary

Our Legal and Regulatory Affairs team is seeking an experienced and talented lawyer to join our litigation team, with a focus on class actions. You will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, closely collaborating with colleagues across Canada. You will manage a significant volume of complex files and provide strategic legal advice to various Bell business units and subsidiaries.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise a diverse portfolio of complex files, including class actions, commercial litigation and arbitration, and litigation involving other telecommunications companies (potentially including issues related to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC)).
  • Work closely with external law firms to ensure efficient and strategic case management.
  • Analyze and assess legal risks associated with litigation and propose pragmatic and innovative solutions.
  • Provide proactive and strategic legal advice to internal teams on a variety of issues, including consumer law, contract law, real estate law, tort law (personal injury, property damage), defamation, and privacy.
  • Draft and revise legal documents such as briefs and pleadings.
  • Actively participate in settlement negotiations, as needed.
  • Master eDiscovery (electronic and documentary evidence management).

Critical Qualifications

  • An experienced Quebec lawyer with a minimum of 3 years of litigation experience, ideally in private practice (with significant experience in class actions) or in-house.
  • Experience in court advocacy.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent ability to assess legal risks.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple files simultaneously, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong team spirit and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Motivated, creative, agile, and results-oriented.
  • Leadership and ability to build strong relationships.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism, confidence, and proactivity.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is essential.
