Our client in building solutions, is seeking a Labour Relations Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for providing expertise in contract interpretation, employment/labour law, and leading the development of a strategic plan for collective bargaining across Ontario. You will play a critical role in driving employee relations strategies and supporting operational objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of collective bargaining strategies to support operational objectives.
  • Act as chief spokesperson in collective agreement negotiations, research industry trends, analyze labour cost competitiveness, and present bargaining mandates.
  • Represent the company with regulatory authorities in labour/employee relations, including grievance arbitration, labour board applications, human rights complaints, and employment lawsuits.
  • Interpret collective agreements and coordinate payroll-related information transfers.
  • Develop and deliver management training programs in labour and employee relations, ensuring alignment with local HR strategies.
  • Provide coaching and development support for the Labour Relations Intern and HR teams.
  • Offer advice on severance packages, terminations, and exit interviews, ensuring compliance with provincial regulations and collective agreements.
  • Conduct internal investigations and guide operations on consequence management processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Labour Relations, HR Management, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in Human Resources and Labour Relations, with a proven track record in collective bargaining and employee relations.
  • Experience negotiating and administering collective agreements, preferably in a multi-union environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Labour and Employment laws, particularly in Ontario and Québec.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and collaborative skills.
  • This role requires up to 40% travel within Ontario. 
  • Bilingual (English & French) skills are an asset.
