Your Opportunity

Stantec is currently seeking a full time Buildings Construction Administrator based out of our Ottawa, ON office.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Interpreting contracts and ensuring compliance with contract terms.

  • Running construction meetings and providing meeting summaries.

  • Monitoring and verifying contract progress.

  • Preparing and processing:

    • Requests for information
    • Change management documents
    • Contract amendments
    • Progress payment certificates
    • Site observation reports
  • Evaluating contractors' submissions for changes and claims.

  • Negotiating an acceptable resolution to contract changes and claims, and processing for management approval.

  • Processing contract close-outs.

  • Preparing various reports and other correspondence relating to areas of responsibility.

  • Create and maintain current records of cumulative work completed and inspected.

  • Coordinate the impact of the changes to the contract and document these changes identified through the change control procedure.

  • Provide guidance on financial and contractual matters pertaining to contracts.

  • Work with sub-consultants to ensure their commercial deliverables meet project requirements.

  • Promote safety.

  • Also, physical demands include:

    • Climb ladders.
    • Work from elevated platforms, roofs, and lifts.
    • Work outdoors and in buildings under construction.
    • Work shifts and weekends when required.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Sound judgment, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Effective interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated organizational, administrative, and decision-making skills required to effectively handle changing priorities and project deadlines.

  • Ability to co-ordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives.

  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.

  • Proficient in critical path scheduling.

  • Proficient in reading drawings and specifications.

  • Detailed technical knowledge of Architectural, Structural, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Electrical systems.

  • Proficient in working with MS Office programs.

  • Ability to work with AutoCAD and Revit is considered an asset.

  • Ability to work both in English and in French is considered an asset.

  • Government of Canada Security Clearance is considered an asset.

  • Experience with document control platforms such as Newforma is considered an asset.

Education and Experience

  • Possess a two-year post-secondary education or higher in engineering or construction management with 10 years of experience in construction administration.

  • A thorough knowledge of construction and contracting principles, methods, procedures, and practices including contract administration relating to changes, claims and delays.

  • A comprehensive knowledge of relevant engineering, pertinent legislation, standards, and scheduling practices/methods.
