Your Opportunity
As a Structural Designer, you will provide integrated engineering solutions to institutional, industrial, residential, and commercial clients with a focus on transit, telecom, waste management, higher education, and food/beverage facilities that require reliable and cost-effective infrastructure for both new and retrofit solutions. The combined skills of our engineers, technicians, and support personnel with diverse backgrounds in design and construction provide clients with a team recognized as leaders in the field.
Your Key Responsibilities
Act as a structural designer for small and medium-sized projects, with the intent to develop skills towards a future discipline lead role for larger projects
Coordinate work with other disciplines including architectural, mechanical, and electrical
Select appropriate methods and techniques to obtain design solutions
Perform detailed structural design calculations
Direct CAD team for drawing preparation and review deliverables before submission to the client
Attend site visits related to pre-design information gathering, post-construction review, and structural condition assessments
Prepare written reports based on the structural analysis of existing buildings and other structures
Work within assigned project budgets and schedules
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Experience or a strong interest in buildings projects
An interest in developing design skills on small structural design assignments and working within a multi-disciplinary engineering consulting team
Strong written and oral communication
Design knowledge in concrete, steel, wood, and masonry
Experience performing building condition assessments an asset
Familiarity with Revit Structure and FEA software(s) an asset
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited university
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
