Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Student for our Calgary office. The successful candidate will be part of the Electrical team within the Building’s Engineering group.

Your Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate should have basic knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Safety Code and Alberta Building Code, understanding of building electrical equipment and systems including normal and life safety power systems, communication systems and lighting systems.

Specific duties will include:

  • Preparation of CAD and Revit drawings from sketches or mark-ups for buildings and non-buildings related projects

  • Load calculations, voltage drop, and short circuit calculations

  • Production of layout drawings for tender, construction, and record drawings

  • Preparations of single line diagrams and control schematics

  • Completion of photometric lighting calculations

  • Support of Project coordination, management, and working in a team-based environment

  • Assistance to engineers and project managers in:

  • Completion of motor, communications, security, and lighting schedules

  • The selection of electrical equipment, overcurrent protection devices, and wiring methods

  • Preparation of technical reports

  • Project coordination including interfacing with clients and contractors

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Detail oriented team player who has the ability to work independently

  • Demonstrated organization and planning skills and has an ability to work within tight deadlines

  • Power related courses and previous consulting experience and knowledge would be considered an asset

  • A working knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or lighting software would be considered an asset

Education and Experience

  • Working toward a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or similar.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
