The Edmonton office has a vibrant and dynamic environment with excellent opportunities for professional growth. We are a multidiscipline team working across Alberta in multiple sectors for a variety of clients. Our projects vary in size ranging from small commercial developments to light industrial, government, community, and private sector facilities.
Your Opportunity
Your role is to work with guidance and direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineered systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices.
Your Key Responsibilities
Conducts basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar documents.
Performs structural modeling using knowledge of relevant software programs.
Works with architectural, interior design, and other engineering disciplines in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/designer.
Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer.
Performs basic calculations to analyze and design individual building components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Excellent understanding and experience using structural finite element engineering design software such as ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RAM, RISA, and STAAD. Revit and Bluebeam experience/knowledge is highly desirable.
Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
Requires proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite.
Highly organized, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and demonstrate flexible approach to work assignments
Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in technology and to integrate new technologies into daily work processes
Education and Experience
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
