Your Opportunity

The successful performance of a project depends on appropriate planning and execution. Project controls is responsible for project metrics such as time, cost, and resources as well as project revenue and cash flow. This position encompasses the people, processes and tools used to plan, manage and mitigate cost and schedule issues and risks that may impact a project.

We currently have an opportunity for a highly motivated Project Controls Administrator to join our Environmental Services group. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, is detail-oriented, has excellent computer software skills and enjoys working in a supportive team environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Project Controls Administrator, you must be flexible, supportive, proactive, and attentive to detail. You must also have the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and interruptions in order to meet and balance deadlines with multiple and shifting priorities. You will be able to analyze information and provide timely standard and customized cost control reports. The successful candidate will be working with project controllers that will provide mentorship and support. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Completing project setup forms for new projects based on the client contract, budget, and work breakdown structure.

  • Providing support with project budgets and change orders

  • Assisting with review, routing, and execution of client contracts and change orders

  • Reviewing project charges and coordinating corrections with project accountants to facilitate timely and accurate client invoicing, as directed by the project manager/project controller

  • Manage invoicing while ensuring compliance to project contractual terms and conditions.

  • Preparing subcontracts and task orders as requested by the project manager/project controller

  • Coding and routing sub-consultant invoices for approval, tracking sub-consultant budgets

  • Preparing various detailed project financial reports in Excel, as needed

  • Providing various financial and contract-related reporting to the project team and clients

  • Supporting Project Controls Leads with other duties as required

  • Assisting Project Manager with follow-up on past-due invoices

  • Assisting with Certificate of Insurance requests

  • Tracking and updating opportunities in Stantec’s databases

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Excellent communication, time-management, organizational and follow-through skills to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with clients, contractors, and staff at all levels

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically desired: expertise in MS Excel)

  • Experience with ERP and other Financial/Cost systems (Oracle, etc.) is preferred

  • Detail-oriented and resourceful, ability to learn new programs and concepts quickly

  • Positive attitude with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to see the “big picture” and use common sense to make decisions

  • A desire to learn and grow.

Education and Experience

  • Technical degree/diploma/certificate in business, economics, engineering, or related field.

Salary Range(s):

  • Lower Mainland $51,600/BC Other Areas $48,700 - Lower Mainland $69,6000/BC Other Areasv $65,700 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
